Job Title:Commercial Underwriter - Property and Casualty
Description:Commercial Underwriter - Property and Casualty - Glasgow, Scotland Corporate Commercial Underwriter Property and Casualty Our client a leading multinational underwriter is seeking a candidate with sound experience of property and liability underwriting. The role will be a mixture of both technical and development dealing with larger complex risks. Candidates must be comfortable with going into broker offices and interfacing with broker personnel at all levels as well as exposure to some of our major clients therefore good communication and interpersonal skills are important. This role is working on the corporate underwriting team and would therefore have exposure to larger and more complex risks, we will consider applicants who come from an SME background as long as they have gained experience of material damage and have solid underwriting skills. This is a broker-facing role and will therefore involve some account development in support of the senior underwriters. Role ∑To develop and underwrite a profitable book of Property and Casualty business in the UK Corporate team based in Glasgow ∑To provide Property and Casualty line of business underwriting skills with a particular focus on underwriting knowledge, technical governance and seizing opportunities to deliver and exceed business plan objectives. ∑To establish a regular and structured approach to broker and customer visits, underwriting business as required in broker's premises Accountabilities ∑Specialist underwriting of large corporate risks taking personal responsibility for writing business within own underwriting authority. ∑To develop broker and customer relationships at the appropriate levels ensuring the integrity of underwriting information. ∑Take responsibility for driving through improvements through technical audits. ∑Interpret underwriting actions and legislation and ensure complete understanding and application. ∑Pro-actively contributes ideas towards strategy using initiative to drive new opportunities delivering increased performance and effectiveness. ∑Act as a source of underwriting knowledge, contribute towards the effective training of junior underwriters and act as a referral point within the team.
