Working for this dynamic and growing sub prime lenders you will be based on site for them underwriting mortgage applications at one of their Packagers/Branded partners offices, to ensure maximisation of both profit and the quality of service provided to our customers.
Principal Accountabilities will include:
(a) To view all new proposals as a lending opportunity for the company thus promoting a ‘can do’ culture..
(b) To underwrite new applications and pipeline business within the companys policy and within agreed service standards.
(c) Where agreed with the source, to process new applications and pipeline business within agreed service standards.
? Receive and check applications ensuring all case details are entered on the system accurately.
? Responsible for underwriting mortgage business within prescribed mandate level and proposing decisions on cases outside of mandate level.
? Generate, check and despatch Offer Letter and Solicitor’s instructions ensuring all relevant conditions have been applied and included.
? On receipt of the Certificate of Title, check all required detail has been completed, all Offer Letter conditions have been complied with and the property will provide suitable security, prior to authorising release of funds within agreed mandate levels.
(d) To be consistent in decision making, sharing ideas and solutions with the rest of the Underwriting and New Business teams.
(e) To be able to adopt a commercial view when dealing with a case outside of policy
(f) Provide expertise in our Packagers/Branded partners offices and conduct training where appropriate to increase their knowledge.
(g) Where appropriate undertake a mentor role to the Case Managers whilst recognising the appropriate reporting lines.
(h) Ensure data correctness requirements are met..
(i) Assess references, valuations, income data and all other relevant documentation, supporting each mortgage application, in line with documented underwriting policy with awareness of potential fraud and common non-conforming lending situations.
(j) Carryout regular reviews and audit of sources and valuers and report with appropriate recommendations.
(k) Provide a monthly report on activities.
5. Decision Making Authority
Level 1 underwriting mandate £200,000 with limited prescribed exceptions, which must be achieved within 3 months of commencing the role.
Level 2 underwriting mandate £350,000 with all exceptions.
All levels cover conforming and non conforming business and are not product or LTV driven.
Where completions are an agreed service offering to the Packager :-
To achieve payout authority within 6 months of commencing role.
All Underwriters will be expected to achieve payout authority. |
