|Description:||Bookkeeper - East London, London
Our client, an accountancy practice based in East London, is currently seeking a Bookkeeper to support and assist in the provision of professional services to clients of the practice.
Major tasks in this role will include bookkeeping, payroll calculations, maintaining computer and manual records, and working closely with other members of the company, as well as providing basic advice and information about the services offered by the company, and maintaining, strengthening and developing links with persons the practice deals with to ensure that they receive an effective, accessible service.
Key duties will involve opening, sorting and directing incoming documents and records, updating and maintaining computerised and manual records for internal and external use, liaising with a wide range of personnel by telephone, letter and in person, and preparing clients books using Pastel, Access, Sage and QuickBooks accounting software, as well as spreadsheets and other software tools, manual systems and the client’s accounting software. Other functions will include undertaking simple and complex calculations as directed, assisting in the development of admin procedures, checking and processing invoices and cheques, reconciling bank accounts and cash books, and safekeeping documents. You will additionally be accountable for sharing responsibility for client hospitality and refreshments, keeping the office tidy, and assisting with other work within the practice as required.
To apply for this position, candidates MUST have practice experience, alongside excellent numerical ability, a logical approach to tasks, basic accounting experience, good computer skills, a good customer service and telephone manner and the ability to work using your own initiative. The successful applicant will ideally have 1 years work experience in a similar role, a good sense of humour and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Hours of work are 7 hours per day between 9:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday. Our client is paying a generous basic salary of up to £18,000 and offering all the benefits of working for a reputable organisation.
