Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities to Clients/Outside Agencies
Deal with basic telephone queries from creditors and others;
Respond by letter to queries raised as above;
Take minutes of meetings attended with senior staff and clients;
Attend at company premises with senior staff and dealing directly with bookkeeping staff.
Responsibilities to Other Members of Staff
You will report primarily to the Group Manager and, where appropriate, the case Manager;
You will understudy the cashier`s role;
You will have the support of secretarial and clerical staff.
Technical and Professional Requirements
Technical Abilities to be Developed
Adapt to and apply basic procedures relating to office life and working in the office;
Communicate clearly with colleagues and others;
Enter debtor and creditor information using the computer applications in the department;
Set up files and complete other administrative procedures for new cases;
Write letters that express information clearly;
Collect book debts;
Bank and draw cheques on cases;
Acknowledge the claims of creditors;
Understand the various fields of insolvency and use the associated terminology appropriately.
Technical Abilities to be Attained
Use the computer applications available in the department to record information and to manage cases;
To learn to use IPS system, in particular, for the production of debtors` and creditors` schedules and statement of affairs documents;
To learn to use the EPA section of the IPS system and to train to be proficient in EPA matters;
Demonstrate awareness that time costs need to be recovered within the budgets for jobs;
Complete straightforward VAT and Corporation Tax Returns, and spot the existence of straightforward tax problems;
Demonstrate background knowledge of property transactions, and the terminology associated with different types of transactions;
Instruct solicitors and agents to conduct straightforward business;
Organise and conduct work in accordance with the department`s check lists and glossaries. Maintain files in accordance with the department`s procedures;
Demonstrate a basic understanding of the Insolvency Act and Rules, by being able to locate the sections relevant to particular fields of insolvency;
Demonstrate a background knowledge of employment law and of employee rights.
