Job Title:Head of International Commercial Team
Description:Head of International Commercial Team - Northampton, Northamptonshire Company Information Our client was founded in 1966 and is the leading credit card provider in the UK with 8.4 mln customers. 1 in 5 credit cards in the UK are issued by our client. Role Purpose Working within International Acquiring, the job holder is responsible for the development and profitability of the multicurrency product set and propositions leading the development of the international acquiring strategy. The role holder will assume the key responsibilities of P&L Ownership, Organic Strategy Development, Proposition & Insight Development, Business Development, Partnership Development to maximise the value of this business area. This requires a detailed understanding of customers needs, as well as developing a deep understanding of European acquiring markets and potential acquiring partners to enable the development of competitive and profitable customer solutions. The ability to translate these customer solutions into profitable business will form an important part of this role. Principal Accountabilities Strategy and CVP Development: The development of strategy for the organic multicurrency business. This includes leading part of the process of Medium Term Planning and responsibility for Short term plans and the Marketing Plan. Selection of international markets and the filtering of those markets through the analysis of the market opportunity. Managing the conversion of strategy and CVP into business requirements. The relationship management of key external stakeholders such as the Payment Schemes Identification of relevant Customer segments and profiles to fit with strategy and CVP requirements P&L and Marketing Plan Ownership Formulating and delivering a balanced portfolio of marketing interventions to drive value and customer satisfaction e.g. marketing events, sales support, market entry plans Responsible for the multicurrency P&L and ensuring remedial action is taken if required to achieve results. Ensure performance is monitored against business case financials targets and market share objectives. Leading the International Acquiring Performance Board across all relevant stakeholders Customer, Product and Market Interpretation: Leading market and customer data research and analysis Instigate and interpret customer / partner insight research e.g. Customer satisfaction Interpretation and deployment of market conditions / trends, customer needs /value, service and product propositions, pricing and brand to ensure the International Team has an in depth understanding of specific markets. Analysis of future trends (legislative, market, compliance, governmental) & strategic / operational implications Competitor analysis & CVP development for multiple options / partners Product Development Liaising with the Head of International Product Management to ensure the delivery of agreed development/enhancements to the product set to time, cost and quality targets etc. Input to the production of business case, reporting of benefits and SI spend to Directorates for the product set Colleague & International Stakeholder Management / Direction Responsibility for Commercial Team – their training and development, motivation, leadership, and resolution of any HR issues Very strong influence on staff of all other areas within BB. Candidate Specifications Technical Skills/Competencies Leadership People management Analytical / Statistical / Financial Customer focus Creative and innovative approach Team player Good decision maker Communication skills Interpersonal skills Pro-active and committed to taking responsibility Knowledge and Expertise (relating to specialist knowledge and expertise required to undertake the role. May include knowledge of the Bank’s products, services and policies) - Essential Proven experience within marketing Degree or MBA calibre Lead roles in developing Market Strategy and/or Marketing Plans Track record of building and maintaining senior level stakeholder relationships – both internal and external - Preferred International marketing experience – especially an appreciation of cultural differences Good working knowledge of Value Based Management principles Good knowledge of the card acquiring market Knowledge or experience of joint ventures or third party deals Foreign language skills Line management experience Key Issues over the next 12-24 months The company is the 2nd largest provider of payment and data processing solutions for the UK and European credit and debit industry.
