Job Title:Project Manager
Description:Project Manager - Northampton , Northamptonshire Company Information Our client was founded in 1966 and is the leading credit card provider in the UK with 8.4 mln customers. 1 in 5 credit cards in the UK are issued by our client. Role Purpose To successfully manage and deliver individual small projects or sub-project workstreams within a business change programme or programme workstream To manage the interdependencies, risk and issues of the project on a day-to-day basis on behalf of a Programme Manager or Programme Director within the constraints laid down by them. To ensure that the project produces the required deliverables, to the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost, and producing a result that achieves the benefits defined in the Business Case. Principal Accountabilities Sub-Project/Project Delivery- 90 % (Accountable to Senior Project Manager/ Programme Manager) Operating in accordance with the requirements of the Strategic Change Execution Board Standard, the Group Change Governance Framework and mandated Project Management Methods and Tools Delivering their project, or sub-project, against the Project and programme objectives Planning and monitoring the project’s progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate Managing the project budget, monitoring the expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the project progress Ensuring the project is resourced to meet its objectives within time, cost and quality constraints Ensuring the delivery of new products, services and business capability from the projects is to appropriate levels of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the Project Plan Quality Assurance and overall integrity of the project Communication with Programme and Project stakeholders, including Programme Manager, Project Manager as required Managing the project’s dependencies and interfaces Management of risks and issues affecting the project’s delivery Reporting project progress at regular intervals to the Senior/Principal Project Manager or Programme Manager as appropriate Provide objective feedback and input into formal Performance Management Reviews and Annual Reviews of all direct project reports, whether these are assigned from the Business Change Resource Pool, or from the business line or other functions Business Change Resource Pool Line Management and Staff Development 5 % (Accountable to the Head of Business Change in the Cluster/Group Centre) Act as a role model in terms of both delivery and behaviour for all staff in Business Change Delivery Demonstrate total commitment to the personal and professional development of all members of Business Change Delivery Personal & Professional Development (5%) Maintain leading-edge personal and professional development by regular and focused activity, which covers the complete development spectrum (i.e. conferences, courses, personal coaching, etc). Keep up to date personally with latest thinking in chosen subject/discipline by attending and presenting at conferences, producing research material for leading-edge journals, etc. Achieve the required level of accreditation in the Group’s mandated Business Change Methods and Tools Candidate Specifications Knowledge and Expertise (relating to specialist knowledge and expertise required to undertake the role. May include knowledge of the Bank’s products, services and policies) - Essential Proven Project Management and Change Management skills and expertise - Preferred Programme Management understanding/expertise Knowledge of complex Financial Services environments Understanding of VBM Experience, qualifications and other requirements specific to the role - Essential Satisfies the FSA criteria for an approved person, both initially and ongoing Demonstrable track record of successful delivery of one or more business change projects (not necessarily in the finance sector) Educated to degree or MBA level to be able to meet the intellectual demands of the job, or can demonstrate equivalent experience Minimum of 2-5 years business change Project Management experience - Preferred Project Management experience gained in a complex Financial Services environment Programme Management experience Appropriate professional accreditation in the Group’s mandated methods and tools for strategic Business Change: Programme Management – [tba] to [tba] level Project Management – [tba] to [tba] level Change Management – [tba] to [tba] level Entrants without formal accreditation will be expected to achieve accreditation within 2 years of entry Key Issues over the next 12-24 months Successful delivery of Cluster/Group high-value-at-stake strategic business change projects Effective operation of the Business Change Delivery Resource Pool within the ‘home’ Cluster/Group Central Functions Personal and professional development of self, and of Line Management reports, and the overall improvement of Business Change capability in the cluster and Group Additional details of exceptional aspects of the demands of the role Job holder may be assigned to run projects/sub-projects in other parts of the Group outside their ‘home’ Cluster Job holder will be working with senior Project and Programme Management, and will have exposure to business line management and some senior executives in the cluster/Group centre Company Behaviours: of particular importance to this role Drive Performance Delight Customers Build Pride and Passion Execute at Speed Grow Talent and Capability Protect and Enhance our Reputation Additional critical qualities: Ability to very quickly assimilate and understand the scope and objectives of the change programme, the scope and objectives of the project/sub-project, and the projects’ contribution to the programme, both in the ‘home’ Cluster and other parts of the Group Able to quickly understand and work within/around the political environment in which the particular project is operating Must be highly credible to senior Project and Programme Management, Programme Directors and Business Executives Considerable ability to ‘hit the ground running’ in an unfamiliar environment Significant personal flexibility and geographic mobility
