Our client was founded in 1966 and is the leading credit card provider in the UK with 8.4 mln customers. 1 in 5 credit cards in the UK are issued by our client.
Provide support to deliver the goals within the Short Term Plan (STP) and Medium Term plan (MTP) within the control of the Customer segment:
Maximise the profit contribution from the segment
Delivering, communicating and ensuring excellent execution of segment strategies
Defining and monitoring key segment metrics
Defining and delivering on the ideal Customer experience.
Support and maintain a detailed understanding of our customers, markets and competitors; and assist the Senior Commercial Manager in the identification of resulting actions. Focus on customer needs to drive value for the company.
Support or lead as appropriate the development of commercial activity (e.g. utilising appropriate combinations of product, price, channel and value add), positioning the company as the leading UK Acquirer in the eyes of customers, hurting the competition and winning profitable & sustainable customers to deliver financial targets.
Support and contribute to the development of both proactive strategies & reactive initiatives to counter commercial and marketing challenges.
Contribute to the development of the Short and Medium Term Plans to ensure timely delivery of plans in line with the deadlines of the planning cycle.
Liaise with and manage work through other commercial teams as needed to develop and deliver activities to support Core Acquiring Short & Medium Term Plan challenges.
The company segments the B2B card acceptance market by scale of business and then within that broad segmentation by type of business e.g. industry or channel preference. This role involves defining and implementing the : segmentation approach, customer proposition for each segment (price, product, channel etc), marketing plan, marketing activity e.g. collateral, web content, events specific projects
This involves liaison across the business, but specifically with Customer Insight, Sales, Product, Marketing execution, Business Banking.
Business Leadership 20%
Assist in the identification of a portfolio of commercial projects; take ownership of allocated projects through to implementation.
Proactively manage the relationship with the Customer Value Management and data teams, to provide direction to the delivery of ongoing customer and competitor insight.
Work with Product areas to extend/enhance the existing portfolio of products and services to ensure optimum functionality in line with customer needs, to drive income and remain competitive in the marketplace.
Liaise with a range of Stakeholders (e.g. Product, Strategy, Sales & Operations, Finance, Business Bank and other commercial directorate teams) to effectively manage projects.
Proactively identify initiatives that drive value and manage through to completion and delivery.

Proactively monitor the P & L, recommending or taking action where required.
Using customer and market insight, identify proactive solutions and opportunities to drive income and reduce costs.
Assist in building all elements of commercial activities, define and deliver briefs & training requirements whilst obtaining buy-in from all relevant teams.
Build and prepare written briefs for activities (e.g. marketing campaigns, product development) which meet business objectives (driven from overall Medium Term Plan (MTP) and Core Acquiring strategy).
Assist in providing direction to customer & market insight reports to understand the value of core business to drive strategies. Monitor performance against targets on an ongoing basis.
Monitor, recommend and initiate controls (for example; customer satisfaction, risk and complaints) on an on-going basis and recommend improvements to the customer experience.
Provide support to other members of Core Acquiring where required. (E.g. work on cross-team projects, monitor budget expenditure, write briefs to drive campaign activity and monitor & report on effectiveness of activity) based on team priorities and workload.
Technical marketing skills based around gaining business insight, customer insight, proposition development and marketing execution.
Innovative in the interpretation of customer and market information to create customer insight, and identify opportunities to grow value significantly.
Strong commercially, with the ability to deal with complex financial information, whilst maintaining the customer at the forefront of all activity to create a win-win solution.
Strong communication and influencing skills, being able to share concepts/opportunities/actions to gain buy in from across all levels, including marketing communications specialists, product areas, sales teams and operations.
Able to work without strict guidance/task lists to support business direction.
Knowledge and Expertise (relating to specialist knowledge and expertise required to undertake the role. May include knowledge of the Bank’s products, services and policies)
Proven strong tendency to focus on understanding customer needs & market developments to drive value
Demonstrable, proven technical marketing experience in utilising customer insight to develop commercial activity, managing for value and improving the customer experience.
Proven experience and track record in the B2B environment.
Proven track record of performance in Marketing or a similar commercial role.
Value Based Management Principles.
Knowledge of UK Acquiring products and services portfolio desirable.
Some understanding of competitor activity and strategies.
Knowledge and understanding of customers and market dynamics within the Medium Business segment.
Experience in commercial marketing within Financial Services / Commoditised Markets (with track record in differentiating offering(s))
Experience, qualifications and other requirements specific to the role
Marketing qualification and/or ACIB / degree in Financial Services
