Job Title:Solutions Development Manager
Description:Solutions Development Manager - Northampton , Northamptonshire Company Information Our client was founded in 1966 and is the leading credit card provider in the UK with 8.4 mln customers. 1 in 5 credit cards in the UK are issued by our client. Role Purpose The primary purpose of the role is to maximise growth of the Commercial Issuing P&L through development of new product and service solutions in either the commercial travel & entertainment or procurement markets. Specifically the role is responsible for; Contribution to the definition of the future Product and Service Strategy for Commercial Issuing (with specific focus on either the T&E or procurement market)and alignment of this strategy with the overall Issuing Vision and Business Strategy Utilising competitor, market and customer insight (working closely with segment managers) to identify and develop specific new product and market opportunities ensuring fit with overall vision and strategy Principal Accountabilities Solutions Development 50% Contribute to development of overall future vision by focusing on either the commercial Travel & Entertainment or Procurement markets and identification of associated product and service development strategy to maximize commercial issuing opportunity in these markets, ensuring fit with overall vision and strategy and customer segment requirements. Identification and development of specific new product and market opportunities focused on either the T&E or procurement markets, including business case development and securing senior stakeholder buy in to development. Identification and negotiation with key external partners and suppliers to facilitate delivery of new commercial products and solutions as appropriate Ongoing management of specific partnership relationships that are necessary to maintain future development of ongoing new product and service solutions Relationship Management 20% Develop effective working relationships with relevant Commercial Issuing and Acquiring colleagues, to ensure a cohesive, customer-led view to business development opportunities Proactively build relationships with a wide variety of business, operational, IT stakeholders and third parties in order to ensure that all new opportunities/concepts are fully evaluated, exploit synergies across the Group and are inclusive of the needs of the business now and in the future Involvement in the management of internal and external relationships connected with the development of new products and solutions, including pro-actively developing and managing relationships with specific external partners and suppliers Team Working 20% Responsible for self development including proactive identification of training and development requirements and self motivation Positive influence on colleagues within the Commercial Directorate and Barclaycard Business, including Sales and Channel Delivery, Ops / IT and Change Delivery achieved through role modeling values, teamwork, collaboration and negotiation. Ensure close co-operation with internal staff across functions, including Change, Operations, Marketing and Technology in both initiation and implementation phases of development as appropriate Represent the solutions development function at key meetings such as performance boards, exco and business forums as appropriate. Conceptual Thinking 10% Working with external organisations and internal stakeholders across the company, Cluster & the wider Group to ensure the development of innovative and value generating concepts that are customer centric and that will create value for the business Candidate Specifications Key competencies required to undertake the role: Intellectual competencies - intelligence, analysis skills, judgment/decision-making, creativity, strategic skills, leading edge Personal competencies - initiative, organisation/planning, excellence, adaptability Interpersonal competencies - customer focus, team player, oral and written communication, political savvy, negotiation and persuasion Additional leadership competencies - vision, change leadership Knowledge and Expertise (relating to specialist knowledge and expertise required to undertake the role. May include knowledge of the Bank’s products, services and policies) Knowledge and Expertise (relating to specialist knowledge and expertise required to undertake the role. May include knowledge of the Bank’s products, services and policies) - Essential Payments industry and product experience, ideally focussed on the business to business market, with relevant consumer experience also considered Business knowledge (e.g. sales, marketing, strategy and planning, finance, operations, IT) specific to commercial customers and commercial card products and markets Understanding of value-based strategic tools and techniques Commercial and financial capabilities including ability to develop new products and solutions to diversify and drive the P&L Understanding of project management tools and techniques Knowledge of Corporate Governance, including Regulated practices Detailed knowledge of the economy, market and customer trends affecting the business Ability to negotiate and effectively influence decision making processes/situations Experience, qualifications and other requirements specific to the role - Essential Satisfies the FSA criteria for an approved person, both initially and ongoing. - Preferred Experience in new product and solutions development with proven ability to deliver on key objectives Internal and external stakeholder/supplier/customer relationship management ability Graduate calibre or similarly qualified to be able to meet the intellectual and technical demands of the job. Skillful in working across a large organisation whilst able to implement at pace. Key Issues over the next 12-24 months Contribute to the development and articulation of a deep understanding of either commercial T&E or procurement market. Use this insight to contribute to the development of a new product and solutions strategy to maximize the opportunity this affords for the Commercial Issuing business Develop and introduce specific new product and market initiatives in line with above strategy to drive growth of P&L and enhance customer experience
