To drive both Acquiring and Issuing income opportunities through the sales education of frontline Small Business Bank Team Leaders (and their reports) whilst achieving challenging objectives and goals.
New Business Development & Networking 90 %
Increase both the quantity and quality of sales leads passed to the company Sales Centres from Small Business Bank by driving the ‘feature and benefit‘ product knowledge of Small Business Managers, Local Business Managers (LBM) and Managers of Small Business (MSB).
To run an active calling plan across their territory of Small Business Bank Centres with regular participation at Small Business Manager Team meetings.
Actively and energetically market the full range of the company solutions within assigned regions of Small Business Bank.
Responsible for developing a personal sales plan to achieve targeted objectives and goals.
Communicate and deploy National Marketing Campaigns at a local level to ensure greater penetration of the campaign’s key messages to the Small Business Managers in the frontline.
Own/Direct/Produce and deliver Small Business Bank proposals and presentation material.
Continually assess the company Small Business Bank proposition and work closely with the BPU Marketing Managers to ensure the correct sales tools are in place.
Build close working relationships with allocated Small Business Bank team contacts and other Group/external key business influencers to drive new leads.
Attend relevant events to develop New Business opportunities.
Provide allocated Small Business Bank teams with dedicated contact for the company solutions and staff training to develop New Business opportunities.
Recommend best practices to Small Business Bank teams to drive accelerated growth and support initiatives to develop New Business opportunities.
Ensure any legal or governance changes affecting the company or its customers are communicated and actioned by Small Business Bank. e.g. documentation or process changes.
Provide evidence of customer demand to influence new business product enhancements/solutions to Line Management, Marketing and Business Development.
Identification of cross sale opportunities and introduction of leads to the company and other relevant parts of the Group.
Create a close working relationship, through joint understanding, with all Small Business Bank Teams within the region.
Develop a deep understanding of the needs and requirements of their clients’ businesses.
Fully understand the workings of the company, the full product portfolio, and the complex pricing and risk strategy.
Provide expertise and consultancy in evolving markets without precedent.
Produce accurate and timely activity reporting to your line manager.
Ensure various projects are instigated and carried out competently, meeting tight dead lines.
External & Internal Customer focus
Financial and commercial acumen with an eye for detail.
Proven presentational ability.
Ability to work under pressure
PC Skills i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Full UK Driving Licence
Knowledge and Expertise (relating to specialist knowledge and expertise required to undertake the role. May include knowledge of the Bank’s products, services and policies
Full and extensive knowledge of the full range of the company solutions.
Working knowledge of acquiring and issuing solutions, their drivers, industry dynamics, interchange, competitor solutions and future product service deliverables.
An up to date knowledge of Industry related technical development
Thorough knowledge of the Business to Business sector.
Fully aware of Industry trends (UK and overseas).
Knowledge of relevant third party suppliers (e.g. technology) and partners.
Knowledge of the Group and company strategies relating to both domestic and overseas.
Awareness of Bank’s payment and collection strategies and services
A good working knowledge of the Banks products and services is very important, as the role's success is solely focused on driving lead generation through the Small Business Bank channel.
Working knowledge and practical understanding of Law of contract and legislation and regulation as it applies to the industry.
Experience, qualifications and other requirements specific to the role
Satisfies the FSA Criteria for an approved person, both initially and ongoing
Sales experience with a proven track record of achieved and high performance
Proven sales management track record within a competitive sales environment.
A full sales and business development background.
May have experience in the Business to Business Financial Services Sector.
Knowledge of the acquiring/commercial card industries and/or Small Business Banking would be an advantage but not essential.
Key Issues over the next 12-24 months
Developing expertise in the full range of the company solutions.
Developing key strategies to maximise New Business generation and opportunities within target markets and sectors and achieving challenging objectives and goals.
To develop strong relationships within the New Business team and wider business to deliver bespoke Bank/client solutions effectively and achieve objectives and goals.
To develop a high profile presence within target markets and sectors, and develop industry knowledge, through research, networking and other relevant opportunities i.e. events.
Additional details of exceptional aspects of the demands of the role
The role holder may be expected to attend/present at relevant industry and trade seminars to represent the group at a variety of forums.
There is a need for flexibility and to be able to work to challenging deadlines when these arise. Attendance at events, entertaining and other business activities often outside business hours.
Itinerant working involving extensive business travel throughout the designated region
