Job Title:Accounts Assistant
Description:Accounts Assistant - East Croydon, Surrey An opportunity has arisen within one of the largest Life organisations. My client provides excellent benefits and is based in East Croydon. They are currently seeking a Snr Accounts Assistant Asset Management - Location: East Croydon Reports To: Team Leader Division: Asset Management RESPONSIBILITIES: This is working within the asst management division of the finance department, the Asset Management department is responsible among many other duties for monthly reporting deadlines. Additional work has been taken on recently in the form of the external AMC (Annual Management Charge) rebate process and the private clients launch. This role will focus specifically on tasks associated with the month end cycle. This will include the pricing of assets; reconciliation of pricing data against third party information; preparation and input of GL entries associated with non-cash items (i.e. unrealised gains, amortisation and accrued income). To prepare asset prices from external data. Responsible for the reconciliation of the asset databases to third party data. Preperation of non-cash accounting journals and input to the general ledger. Working within an audited environment. Involvement in any new projects that may arise. Responsible for month end reporting. Inputting and updating asset management prices. To reconcile prices and handle CHAPS payments. Responsible for liaising with all internal divisions of the organisation. The role will also have scope for introducing regular analysis currently only being undertaken on an ad-hoc basis such as price variance in order to find discrepancies prior to P&L publication rather than as part of the P&L review. Responsible for the preparation/review controls required by Sarbanes-Oxley and support of the InvestPro Unit Pricing system. The change of inputs to the Asset Management department from the implementation of InvestPro will need to be managed, analysing test results against expectations and developing process flows around the various integration points with the PAM Asset Management system, Payment System and externally with third parties. This role will provide cover for the PAM system data input. To assist in additional duties from your manager as and when required. IMPORTANT: An awareness of banking procedures. ESSENTIAL: Candidates will need some relevant accounts experience working within a similar varied finance environment. We will look at candidates from any finance background. Candidates will have strong reconciliations skills. The ability to multi task. Good initiative / highly numerate. The ability to liaise with people at all levels. First class communication skills, both verbal and written. Accurate / good attention to detail. Methodical / analytical. Ability to work within to deadlines. Good team player. DESIRABLE: Anyone with experience from a life insurance, insurance or investments background would be very advantageous. EDUCATION: Ideally candidates should be educated to Graduate calibre or equivalent within a related degree. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION: Candidates should be studying towards their CIMA or / ACCA exams or equivalent. SYSTEMS: Intermediate advanced Excel skills, must be able to understand linking spreadsheets, to create spreadsheets, knowledge of formulas, Vlookups and pivot tables. In house system used is Platinum. BACKGROUND: Candidates will have strong reconciliations skills. Anyone with experience from a life insurance, insurance or investments background would be very advantageous. STUDY SUPPORT: A full study package is available.
