Development Underwriter - Surrey - up to £41,000 plus excellent benefits
To Underwrite commercial risks from a designated panel of intermediaries within agreed authority levels, to achieve profitable growth in line with Company and branch objectives.
To look for opportunities to develop account and profitability with key brokers
Develop a profitable panel of brokers for New Business
Identify potential new business opportunities
Understand the nature and extent of Broker panels marketplace & potential of new business development
Understand and develop profitable new business
Achieve set sales campaign targets
Involvement in prepare annual business plan
Involvement in managing intermediary relationships
Involvement in agreeing annual business plan with intermediaries
Conduct broker visits
Assist Account Manager to deliver new partnership deals in line with Broker panel, in accordance with company strategic aims
Provide New Business quotations and ensure successful conversion rates with Broker Panel.
Report and feedback to ADM/New Business Team Trading Manager on progress
Create opportunities to discuss deals/consolidations of business/rollovers with your Broker Panel including Fleet and Motor Trade
Monitor conversion rates monthly by broker panel, identifying opportunities, growth patterns, problems or issues and implement actions
Monitor your new business generation against plan and take decisive action to improve when appropriate.
Identify and pursue new business prospects
Identify cross sales opportunities and create referrals.

Progress towards ACII/Qualified ACII
'A' Level or equivalent education
Skills and Knowledge
Thorough understanding of general insurance products
Good influencing skills
Good sales & negotiation skills
ACII Qualification desirable
Good interpersonal skills with potential to represent & promote the business
Previous experience in dealing with major players/affinity groups preferable
Previous experience of operating in a new sales environment
Knowledge of market
Team spirit with u/w
Effective time management
Proven successful track record of profitable business development.
