Our client was founded in 1966 and is the leading credit card provider in the UK with 8.4 mln customers. 1 in 5 credit cards in the UK are issued by our client.
Responsible for the pro- & re-active management of a range of profitable relationships with valuable company Acquiring corporate clients within a Northampton-based dedicated client management centre, ensuring the provision of first class customer service & maximising business opportunities to achieve key objectives & goals.
Main activities are:
Develop and maintain relationships with exciting customers
Securing & converting cross/up sell opportunities
NB All customer interactions are via telephone.
Interaction with customer – 50%
Involves discussions and negotiations with valuable clients on commercial issues and queries.
Identify opportunities to develop existing client relationships through the cross selling of additional acquiring solutions. This may often require innovative thinking to identify solutions that fulfil exact client requirements.
To undertake activities and defined projects to retain clients, reducing attrition rates and to protect business income.
Develop and maintain a close working relationships with key areas of the Group to share knowledge on mutual clients and maximise cross selling opportunities.
Ensure key client contacts are kept fully aware of the company Acquiring, industry/competitor initiatives and future developments.
Support key existing business/sales initiatives and developments.
Support Sales Management best practices and governance.
Accurate and timely processing of relevant documentation.
Identify and provide feedback to line management of new product development requirements and opportunities.
Negotiation – 20%
Negotiate commercial contracts and pricing with clients at appropriate levels within defined parameters/rules.
Undertake all necessary re-pricing work to ensure that clients managed receive the most appropriate and competitive pricing rates and that business income is maximised.
Decision Making - 20%
Identify solutions that fulfil client requirements and then employ effective sales techniques to cross/up-sell to clients to generate optimum returns for the company Acquiring.
Make sound commercial judgements when positioning solutions and/or undertaking sales/pricing activity in order to retain and fully develop client base.
Make decisions in the context of sales and service activity that will/may impact on the medium and long-term revenue/profit to the company Acquiring.
Make joint decisions with clients on how to proceed with the implementation/roll-out of solutions to maximise the benefits to all parties but minimise resource impacts on the company Acquiring, e.g. Chip & PIN.
Planning and research - 10%
Personal time management of day to day activities to maximise return on resources.
Maintain and understand the business environment in which clients and the company operate.
Constantly update knowledge on all products and services offered by the company and its partners.

Knowledge and Expertise (relating to specialist knowledge and expertise required to undertake the role. May include knowledge of the Bank’s products, services and policies

Working knowledge of acquiring schemes, their drivers, industry dynamics, interchange and future product/service deliverables.
An up to date knowledge of Industry related technical development
Aware of Industry trends
Knowledge of relevant third party suppliers (e.g. technology), partners and competitors.
A good working knowledge of the Group’s products and services is important, as there are often opportunities to open new banking links with prospective clients.
Experience, qualifications and other requirements specific to the role
Demonstrable track record in customer service
Demonstrable track record in a sales environment, with a proven sales and profit performance record, ideally within a Client Relationship Management environment.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
Proven success rate in negotiating at the highest level.
May have experience in the Business to Business Financial Services Sector.

The Account Management Centre is based in Northampton.
The role will be permanently, office-based in Northampton.
