An Assistant Manager is required to primarily work at clients in the Swindon and Fareham area. The purpose of the role is to lead a team in the delivery of the annual review of internal control and risk management systems of a portfolio of clients.
To be considered for this post all applicants should normally be part or fully qualified CCAB or IIA or have other specialist skills/qualifications (e.g. QiCA, ACCA, CIMA or Contract Audit).
Your responsibilities will be as follows:
To assist the Head/Deputy Head of Internal Audit in preparing and subsequently monitoring audit plans and programmes, (including the Audit Needs Assessment), which ensure proper co-ordination of all internal audit activities.
To control and manage the audit resources of his or her team(s) to ensure that work is completed to time and budget.
To monitor the effectiveness and quality of audit work through review of all audit working papers prior to final management review.
To maintain a knowledge of key developments within the sector which we work (FE, HE, NHS, Local Government, Housing etc) and ensure that team members are aware of these developments.
To monitor target recoveries and work with the manager to ensure that these are achieved and to assist in the maintenance of the contract monitoring system for those clients.
To report to client management via debrief meetings on the findings of audit carried out by the audit team and to ensure prompt client management responses to these.
To represent our client in audit matters as required, including attendance at Audit Committees.
To prepare progress and annual reports for Audit Committees.
To perform higher level audit assignments his/herself.
To identify and act upon, opportunities for additional work at existing clients or new work at potential clients.
To liaise with the Client/Senior Manager to ensure the effective planning and utilisation of junior audit staff.
To attend tender presentations for new work, as required.
To set performance objectives for his/her team and to assist with the bi-annual appraisals on the performance of team members.
To participate, depending on skills and requirements, in non-audit consultancy assignments.
To contribute to technical Internal Audit developments within the firm, as required.
