To work as part of the team, effectively providing a hands on compliance and/or advisory role that meets or exceeds client expectations and supports the partner/manager team.
takes an active part in the audit planning and fraud discussion to identify audit risks and appropriate audit strategy
prepares the audit plan and budget for review
ensures planned audit work is appropriately completed to satisfy audit objectives
communicates any issues relating to an audit with manager or partner including matters which arise during the audit which were not identified at the planning stage
prepares or reviews workpapers and drafts of the financial statements
ensures the efficient use of appropriate software packages (Explorer, audit CARE, SAPA)
delegates work to other members of the audit team, ensuring assistants understand their responsibilities and have received appropriate on-the-job training/coaching
produces commercial management reports, specifically drafting sections of the report to management
identifies and discusses issues with clients
controls the audit in relation to timescales, budgets and risk management procedures
remains updated on changes to clients business
is aware of the wide range of Grant Thornton services and spots opportunities to potentially sell those services to clients
is actively involved in office marketing events when appropriate and is an 'ambassador' of the firm
ensures the firm discharges properly its professional duties
consistently achieves deadlines and understands the commercial implications of actions relating to productivity, recoverability, fee income and client service
accurately records time spent and documents reasons for overruns
communicates workload with manager or partner
attends training courses as identified in order to develop both technical and personal skills and keeps records for CPDpurposes
maintains an understanding of audit methodology
adheres to the firms risk management policies and procedures, including being familiar with and consulting the audit manual
contributes to departmental and office meetings
carries out any other duties to meet with the needs of the business
Education / qualifications Maths and English Language at GCSE or equivalent
Professional qualification (ACA,CA, ACCA)
Experience of using Microsoft packages, internet, email and computerised audit packages.
Confident in dealing with SMEs.
Motivation has clear understanding of office/unit objectives and the fit with personal goals
