Overall purpose of the job
To produce accounts for clients which are accurate and reliable and drawn up in accordance with Accounting Standards and Financial Reporting Standards.
To be able to interpret those accounts and to discuss matters concerning the audit and accounts production and related queries with the client.
The accounts are to be produced on a timely basis in accordance with budgets and timetables laid down.
To prepare management accounts on an ad hoc basis for clients in accordance with procedures laid down; to carry out an analytical review on those accounts. The details and scope of which will depend upon the individual assignment.
To prepare corporation tax computation in respect of statutory accounting periods in accordance with the Taxes and other relevant Acts.
To deal with correspondence as and when directed.
To be able to apply the same objectives to non incorporated clients as and when directed.
You will be required to be familiar with carrying out audits of companies with turnovers above £1,000,000 and up to £7,000,000 as well as the preparation of accounts of sole traders and partnerships.
You will be required to produce statutory accounts of companies whose turnovers are below these limits as well as the accounts of sole traders and partnerships.
You will be familiar with all aspects of auditing, including planning, control and recording and be used to pre-printed audit and accounting packages and systems.
You will be required to plan audit assignments, including budgets and timetables, and to have these budgets approved prior to commencement of work.
You will be familiar with software packages, such as MYOB, Quickbooks, Sage and Pegasus and the auditing thereof.
You will be used to reporting to Managers and preparing full audit files that require only Manager and Partner review. Completion of the files will be your responsibility.
You will be familiar with payroll procedures such as completion of forms P11D and year end returns, together with the routine matters that arise during a PAYE and NI inspection.
You will be familiar with routine VAT procedures
You will need to work under your own initiative and be able to prioritise the various tasks which have been outlined above. In particular, preparation of audit/accounts files will need to be done within budget and to timetables. You will need to be able to deal with these tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
We believe that a determined character is essential, given the variety of tasks and deadlines which will be required to fulfil the role.
